Another beautiful family session at the breathtaking Lake Louise. Little kiddos can be a blast to work with - something about their energy, spontaneity and innocence. But this can also present some challenges as well. Sometimes it takes a rescheduling of the session and a little candy bribery to get the perfect family shots. So grateful we were able to turn this one around and finish the session with some of the most gorgeous family photos and nothing but smiles for miles across this iconic landscape.
Booking a family session and worried about your children cooperating? Here are some tips from a Banff family photographer for getting the most of your family session:
Plan Ahead: Discuss the details of your vision with me before we shoot! Whether that’s answering all of the questions during booking, or sending more specific info to me directly. This ensures everyone is on the same page and helps the session run smoothly.
Timing is Key: Plan the session during the time of day when your kids are typically happiest and most energetic. Mornings or right after naptime are often good options. Plan to arrive at location a bit earlier so your kids have a chance to explore and settle in.
Rest and Snacks: Make sure everyone is well-rested and has had a light snack before the shoot. It’s amazing how quickly things can turn around with the mention of a yummy snack.
Be Prepared for the Unexpected: Kids might have their own plans during the shoot. Embrace their unpredictability and go with the flow. Sometimes, the best moments happen when things don't go as planned.
